Nowling Overbet Jams Flop

Facing an UTG open to 8,000, Jeffrey Nowling defended his big blind at 1,500/3,000/3,000.

The flop came 9♣8♠8♥ and it didn't take long for Nowling to donk jam into Keagan Cheatwood for over twice the pot. Nowling knew a board like this should connect with him more often than the UTG opener and the overbet jam sent Cheatwood into the tank.

Nowling's all in was for 54,500 effective and Cheatwood had 73,500 behind. If Cheatwood called and lost the pot then Cheatwood would only have 19,000 left and immediately come into the blinds. Not a fun spot to say the least. Ultimately Cheatwood did lay it down.
