Alvarado Triples Up in Multiway Pot (E#12-LC)

Four players to a flop. Standard Texas PLO action right?

With blinds at 1,000/1,500/1,500, Pedram Kazemi opened to 4,000 from UTG+1. Brian Smith and Song Yi both called from UTG+2 and the cutoff respectively. Rick Alvarado was on the button and he raised to 22,500. The blinds folded but he was otherwise called in every spot.

Four players went to the flop of J♥T♦5♦. With 94,000 already in the pot, action quickly checked around to Alvarado and he put his remaining 19,500 in the middle.

Before any other action took place, Alvarado commented, "I'm about to have a lot of chips or no chips." Kazemi took some time before making the call. Smith folded out but Yi also made the call. The pot was now 152,500 with action live on the dry side.

The turn brought the 8♣. Action checked through.

The river paired the turn with the 8♥. Once again action checked through and players were slow to show - a good sign for Alvarado.

Kazemi announced kings as he tabled K♠K♥J♦3♣. Yi went to muck his cards, but was forced to table because of Alvardo's all in. Yi had a busted flush draw with A♣6♦4♣2♦. Alvarado had that flush draw dominated and tabled his turned nut straight with A♠K♦Q♦9♠.

Alvarado just went from 42,000 to 152,500. 49 players remain.
