Firova Finishes Jain Off (E#11-D3)
During three-handed play, Joe Firova and Rohit Jain clashed blind versus blind.
Firova limped in with A♥J♦ from the small blind on blinds of 250,000/500,000/500,000. Jain had red queens in the big blind and raised to 1,700,000. Firova shuffled some chips and then announced all in and Jain threw in one chip as a call. Firova was at risk for 14,900,000 effective.
Firova: A♥J♦
Jain: Q♥Q♦
The flop came down A♦T♣8♦. Firova took the lead. Jain's red queens would need to straighten out, flush out, or find a set by the river, otherwise Jain would be left with just under two big blinds.
Jain went unimproved on the runout of 8♣ and J♥. Firova now had the chip lead with 30.3 million; Michael Begham had 28.25 million and Jain was left with 950,000.
On the very next hand, Firova raised to 1 million and Jain went all in for less from the small blind. Begham folded his big blind.
Firova: A♦8♦
Jain: 9♥3♦
Board: A♣J♣4♠2♦K♣
Jain didn't receive much of a sweat with the ace high flop. The 2♦ on the turn gave him a gutshot wheel draw but the K♣ ended his tournament dream in third place for $105,650!
