Orr Finds Hero Call on River
Action picked up on the river with Malik Orr deep in the tank facing all-in-to-call.
The blinds were 1,500/3,000/3,000 and the board was T♥6♠5♦8♣5♠. Orr was on the button and Kyle Birdwell had effectively went all-in from the small blind as the covering stack.
Orr had just over 21 big blinds behind with about the same amount in the pot. Was the call worth his tournament life? Orr eventually decided it was worth it. He called.
Birdwell turned over Q♦9♣ for a missed double-gutter. Orr was relieved to see the missed draw and rolled over his J♥T♣ for top pair.
Orr was complimented on his hero call and the table talked about the hand. It was obvious that Orr and Birdwell both respect each other's play and skill so the discussion of how the hand developed was interesting.
