On a heads-up flop of 9♦7♣6♠, the pot had 8,500 in it when Damien Franco moved all in for 15,500 and the action was over to Derek Normand (Normand already bagged in Day 1B but is looking to bag more ammo for Day 2).
Normand thought for a few moments before he tossed out chips to call and the cards were on their backs.
Franco: 6♣2♣
Normand: K♣10♥
Franco was ahead with his pair of sixes, but Normand still had plenty of puts with his two overs and gutshot straight draw.
Fortunately for Franco, none of those cards came on the 4♥9♠ runout and he was pushed the pot for the double.
The very next hand, Jeff Nowling opened and was then shoved on by Normand, which he called to put him at risk.
Normand flipped over ace-ten while Nowling held pocket nines for a flip situation, but the deck could not give Normand the double and he was sent to the exit while Nowling chipped up.
Franco - 39,500
Nowling - 135,000
Normand - 0
