Normand All-in Back-to-Back

WSOPC Austin 2026 WSOPC E1 Apr 23, 2026 8:23:28 PM 6 min read

In a single-raised pot with blinds of 6,000/12,000/12,000, Quinton Neal checked on a flop of JdTs7s and Derek Normand moved all-in.

Neal shrugged as he quickly made the call to put himself at risk.

Neal: K♦Q♠ (all-in)
Normand: A♦K♠
Flop: J♦T♠7♠

Normand was glad to see he was ahead with ace-high and Neal was in rough shape. The 2♦ hit the turn and Neal paired the Q♦ river but it delivered broadway to Normand and Neal was eliminated in 52nd place for $1,155.

In the very next hand, Jeff Platt opened to 24,000 from UTG. Normand three-bet to 67,000 from the hijack and Platt called.

The flop came 9♠5♠4♥. Platt checked and Normand moved all-in again. Platt called as the effective stack (163,000).

Platt: Q♠J♠ (all-in)
Normand: A♦K♦
Flop:  9♠5♠4♥

Platt had a flush draw with two live overs and Platt connected with the J♦ on the turn. The 9♥ on the river secured the pot for Platt.

Platt: 490,000 (+260,000)
Normand: (-230,000)
